About Me

My name is Mac Goodchild and I am a junior at the University of Alabama, majoring in News Media with a concentration in Sports. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL so, I’m a huge boater and fisherman. I am an active brother in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and I also am the kicker as well as one of the captains for the Pack on the University of Alabama Mens’ Rugby team. I’m an Eagle Scout and I’m also very involved with Type 1 Diabetes research within the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on the third day of fifth grade and this past August I celebrated my 10 year Diabetes anniversary by eating a ton of ice cream! Since my diagnosis in 2010, my walk team “Mac’s MVP’s,” has raised over $90,000 for research to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. If I were to describe myself to someone who had never met me before, I would. say that I am: charismatic, caring, funny, entertaining, dependable, intelligent, athletic, and relatively good looking. From my perspective, I’m a huge comedian and most of the time, whether I mean to or not, I make most people laugh. I have a lot of friends and I pride myself on being a people person. I love my family very much and they have supported me through every endeavor I have encountered in my life. Being here would not be possible without them, and my love for them has no boundaries. Grateful is an understatement and every success I will achieve will be for them. Family, friends, and God are three of the biggest and influential aspects of my life and I wouldn’t trade any one of them for anything.
